Second Circuit DUI Court to Hold Graduation Ceremony
PIERRE, S.D.— DUI Court graduation is an important part in a participant’s journey to building a life of responsibility and accountability. The Second Circuit DUI Court team invites the public to join them in recognizing the accomplishments of participants successfully completing all five phases of the program.
Second Circuit DUI Court will hold a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. CDT in Courtroom 3B at the Minnehaha County Courthouse, 425 N. Dakota Ave., Sioux Falls. Attendees are asked to enter the courthouse through the front entry, where they will have to go through security screening. They will then take the elevators, located to the right of the security area, to the third floor.
The keynote speaker will be Cody Henrichs, executive director of the Minnesota Community Technical College Foundation and a professor of sculpture and art history at the University of South Dakota. Henrichs, who lives in Luverne, Minn., struggled with drug and alcohol addiction in his early years but has remained sober for the last 21 years. He is currently finishing his second master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota Mankato and a doctorate in education from Winona State University.
For three decades, there has been a growing movement to transform the way the justice system responds to substance use and mental health disorders. Rather than continuing the revolving door of addiction and related crime, treatment courts break the cycle by holding individuals accountable while connecting them with the treatment and support needed to change their lives. DUI Court utilizes a multi-disciplinary team approach with its participants to ensure their successful reintegration into the community as law abiding citizens.
