Brown County Drug & DUI Court to Hold Graduation Ceremony
PIERRE, S.D.—Brown County Drug & DUI Court will hold a graduation ceremony to honor participants’ achievements on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. CST at the Brown County Courthouse in Aberdeen.
The graduation ceremony is evidence of the tremendous impact that treatments courts have on the community. The graduation is open to the public, as well as family and friends of the participants. It is also open to the media and cameras, with interviews available upon request.
The graduation will be held in the third-floor courtroom of the Brown County Courthouse, 101 First Ave. SE, Aberdeen.
Brown County DUI Court was established in 2012, followed by Drug Court in 2015. The Court’s mission is to provide public safety and reduce costs by providing a judicially-supervised program of intensive treatment and accountability for substance dependent participants, with the goal of transforming them into contributing members of their community.
Treatment courts are an effective strategy for treating substance abuse and mental illness while reducing recidivism and saving taxpayer dollars. These courts have proven that a combination of supervision, treatment and support can lead people with substance use and/or mental health disorders into lives of stability, wellness and recovery.
