Greetings All:
The Second Judicial Circuit in Minnehaha County is holding Warrant Resolution Court for people who want to clear their non-violent arrest warrants and misdemeanor bench warrants (Arrest warrants are issued on new charges for which you have not yet made a court appearance and Bench warrants are issued on cases where you’ve missed a scheduled court appearance).
The scheduled dates for this court session will be on:
September 12, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
October 10, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
November 14, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
A judge and court staff will be present to clear the warrants, and attorneys from the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, and Public Advocates Office will be available for consultation. Participants will have the chance to arrange due dates or payment schedules for fines, schedule new court dates if necessary, and in many cases, participants will be able to resolve their cases completely that evening.
Interpreters will also be present to assist as needed.
Our goal is to resolve as many warrants as possible without individuals being concerned about arrest or having to post bond. However, please keep in mind that this court session is only for specific types of charges and if an individual appears on a warrant outside the scope of this special session, they may be taken into custody.
Please give yourself plenty of time for these sessions. We plan on having sessions every half hour to move folks through as fast as possible, but keep in mind that once your warrant is cleared you will be required to stay until your matter is concluded.
We hope to provide individuals with an easy opportunity to resolve low-level, non-violent arrest warrants and bench warrants. Examples of charges that would be appropriate for the Warrant Resolution court session include:
