The public can view South Dakota open court records electronically from public access computer terminals at all courthouses in South Dakota. The public access computers provide information on case details including party names, attorneys, open documents, hearings, judgments and outcomes of completed cases.

Features:

  • A login is not required to use the public access computer terminals.
  • Users can search statewide or use an advanced search feature.
  • Users are automatically logged off after inactivity.
  • Court documents can be printed at the clerk of courts office at a rate of 20 cents per page.

Restrictions:

  • Certain records are unavailable in accordance with federal and state statutes and the rules governing the UJS or by court order.
  • Juvenile records are not available to the public.
  • For cases prior to 1989, records must be requested directly from the clerk of courts office for the county in which the case was filed.
