About Parenting Coordinators
Parenting coordinators are neutral professionals appointed by the court or agreed upon by the parties to assist in resolving disputes related to parenting arrangements. The primary goal is to promote the best interests of the child while reducing conflict between parents. Parenting coordinators typically work with high-conflict families to implement and manage court-ordered parenting plans.
South Dakota Parent Education Program
South Dakota law requires that parties to any action involving the issue of child custody or parenting time complete a court-approved course concerning the impact of these proceedings on children. This requirement became effective September 1, 2022 (Supreme Court Rule 22-09).
