Treatment courts are an effective strategy for treating substance use and mental health disorders while reducing recidivism and saving taxpayer dollars. These courts have proven that a combination of supervision, treatment and support can lead people with substance use and/or mental health disorders into lives of stability, wellness and recovery.
Codington County Drug & DUI Court’s mission is to enhance public safety with the goal of developing sober, productive, law-abiding citizens by holding participants accountable while providing supervision, treatment and life skills in a judicial setting. The treatment court was established in 2014.
May is National Treatment Court Month and the perfect time to share the many ways treatment courts are making a positive impact on their communities. Learn more about South Dakota’s treatment courts.
