Commission on Equal Access to Our Courts to Meet December 9

PIERRE, S.D.—The South Dakota Commission on Equal Access to Our Courts will meet virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. CST.

The Commission, which is authorized by SDCL 16-2-55, provides grants to nonprofit entities that are funded, or nonprofit entities contracting with nonprofit entities that are funded, by the Legal Services Corporation and deliver legal services to persons meeting income eligibility guidelines.

New business agenda items include an update on Legal Services Corporation funding, update on previous grant awards, discussion of Justice Bus metrics, proposed legislation from UJS to remove answer fee in eviction cases, proposed commission charter (terms, selection of officers, etc.), and grant awards.
