Commission on Parenting Time Guidelines to Meet on September 19

PIERRE, S.D.—The South Dakota Supreme Court’s Commission on Parenting Time Guidelines will meet on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT. The public can attend the meeting in person in Room 412 of the State Capitol in Pierre or virtually via Zoom. View the agenda

The Commission will consider oral and written comments received about the Parenting Time Guides and will formulate recommendations. There will be a 10-minute period for public comment. 

The Commission must submit a report and any recommendations to the Supreme Court, Governor and Legislature no later than Oct. 1, 2025.

The Commission was created in 2020 and includes a circuit court judge, family law attorney, childhood development professional, non-custodial parent, custodial parent, state representative and state senator. The Commission convenes every four years and first reviewed the Parenting Time Guidelines in 2021. Learn more
