Sioux Falls, SD -- In celebration of National Drug Court Month, the DUI court will hold a graduation ceremony on 5/25/2021 at 9 AM. Presiding Circuit Judge Houwman will deliver the keynote address. The event will recognize two individuals whose lives have been transformed by the treatment and support provided by the program. Media is invited to attend, with interviews available upon request. The ceremony will follow immediately after the regular DUI Court session in Courtroom 3B in the Minnehaha County Court House, 425 N Dakota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD.    Also, the DUI court team is actively working to give back to their community and has a volunteer project kicking off on May 23, 2021, to clean up Leaders Park in Sioux Falls. The DUI court is committed to not only assisting individuals with their treatment journey but also reconnecting them to their community and giving back.

Treatment courts across the nation are holding special events to celebrate National Drug Court Month. Treatment courts are considered the most effective strategy for reducing addiction, crime, and recidivism while saving taxpayer dollars. With their friends and families in attendance, this graduation will honor the graduates who have completed an intensive program of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment, close supervision, and accountability.
