Pennington County Mental Health Court was established in Rapid City in 2019. Mental Health Court’s goal is recovery, not just sobriety. “Recovery” is defined as a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live self-directed lives and strive to reach their full potential.
Treatment courts are the most effective intervention for helping individuals with substance use and mental health disorders transition from the criminal justice system into lives of recovery, stability and contribution.
