Second Circuit Drug Court to Hold Graduation Ceremony
PIERRE, S.D.—Second Circuit Drug Court will hold a graduation ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, at 1 p.m. CDT in Courtroom 4B of the Minnehaha County Courthouse, 425 N. Dakota Ave., Sioux Falls. The guest speaker will be Dez Kincaid, a program manager with the South Dakota Division of Behavioral Health.
The graduation ceremony is evidence of the tremendous impact Second Circuit Drug Court has had on its community. With their friends and family in attendance, participants who have successfully completed all phases of this drug court program will be honored. The event is open to the public and media.
Attendees are asked to enter the courthouse through the front entry, where they will have to go through security screening. They will then take the elevators, located to the right of the security area, to the fourth floor. Temporary signage will be in place to direct guests.
Treatment courts are an effective strategy for treating substance use and mental health disorders while reducing recidivism and saving taxpayer dollars. These courts have proven that a combination of supervision, treatment and support can lead people with substance use and/or mental health disorders into lives of stability, wellness and recovery.
Drug Court graduation is an important part in a participant’s journey to building a life of responsibility and accountability. During their time in the program, participants have been responsible for multiple drug screens every week, have paid their fines and fees in full, and have completed countless hours of chemical dependency treatment. Additionally, they have found jobs, stable and sober housing, and have become leaders in sobriety.
