South Dakota Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Commission to Hold Annual Meeting on May 22

PIERRE, S.D.—The South Dakota Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Commission will hold its annual meeting virtually via Microsoft Teams on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT.

The Commission will hear presentations from East Central CASA, Northern Hills CASA, Seventh Circuit CASA, Southeast CASA, First Circuit CASA and Sioux Falls CASA regarding their annual basic funding ($198,000). The Commission will also hear presentations from Fifth Circuit CASA and Sixth Circuit CASA about additional funding for these new CASA programs, as well as a presentation from East Central CASA regarding expansion funding. 

Other agenda items include updates from the State Administered CASA Association, discussion and awards of annual basic funds and additional funds, and an open meetings review.

The South Dakota CASA State Administered Organization, in collaboration with the National CASA Association and the South Dakota Unified Judicial System’s State Court Administrator's Office, is committed to providing leadership, support and encouragement to the state's CASA programs that provide a service to the court that oversees child abuse and neglect cases and to the children involved in the court proceedings.
