Treatment Court Graduations to be Held in Mitchell and Yankton

PIERRE, S.D.—As part of National Treatment Court Month, graduation commencements will be held to celebrate those completing drug and DUI court in Mitchell and Yankton.

  • James Valley Drug & DUI Court will hold a graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. CDT in the courtroom at the Davison County Public Safety Building, 1015 S. Miller Ave., Mitchell.
  • Yankton County Drug & DUI Court will hold a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. CDT in Courtroom A on the second floor of the Yankton County Safety Center, 410 Walnut St., Yankton.

With their friends and family in attendance, participants who have successfully completed all phases of these treatment court programs will be honored. The events are open to the public, and a reception will follow both graduation ceremonies. 

Treatment Court Month is a nationwide celebration of lifesaving treatment courts led by All Rise, the training, membership and advocacy organization for justice system innovation addressing substance use and mental health at every intercept point. James Valley Drug & DUI Court and Yankton County Drug & DUI Court are proud to join more than 4,000 treatment courts across the county to celebrate leading people out of the justice system and into long-term recovery. 

Treatment courts are an effective strategy for treating substance use and mental health disorders while reducing recidivism and saving taxpayer dollars. These courts have proven that a combination of supervision, treatment and support can lead people with substance use and/or mental health disorders into lives of stability, wellness and recovery.
